Yes, what you just watched was a Bugatti Veyron Super Sport hitting 246 mph on a public road. Actually a Bugatti Veyron Super Sport Pur Blanc and 246.4 mph, to be exact.

Before you even start about how unsafe this is, know this: the run was done on a closed-to-public-traffic roadway during the 2014 Sun Valley Road Rally this weekend in Ketchum, Idaho. The event turns a stretch of Highway 75 into a closed road. This allows some ridiculously high-powered vehicles to run as hard as they can. So, while still unsafe (can anyone really claim going 200+ mph is safe?) it was a—somewhat—controlled environment.

The event saw a handful of Bugatti Veyron, Porsches, and other high-end crazy horsepower vehicles.

Now we know that the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport sounds like a jet when going full out.
