It’s no secret that enthusiasts have been foaming at the mouth over the new Ford GT since it was unveiled last year in Detroit. Frankly, it’s a legend. For Ford to not only bring it back, but to also take it racing, is a big deal. With it going on sale later this year, it was only a matter of time before we were able to get our eyes on a production-intent model.

That time came this week at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show. Quietly, sitting on the second level of the Ford booth on Monday during the first press day of the auto show was a white-on-red Ford GT. It looks mostly like the concept, but there were a few key details that are different.

We chatted with Jamal Hameedi, Ford Performance Chief Vehicle Engineer, and received a full list of what’s changed on the GT for production.
